Life is built on imperfections. Nothing is perfect, including the journey of life. In my young life, there has not been a specific, direct path. I have a feeling most individuals can relate to an indirect life journey, unless you have a strong set of goals.
I would like to start, by talking about the opposite of perfection.Everything we see is imperfect. For example, a great meal may have the outward appearance, texture and smell of perfection, however if the ingredients are not the freshest, that image may be broken upon tasting. Some individuals seem to have a perfect appearance, with the ideal hair and great features; yet everyone has a bad hair day now and again. Physical appearance is important for relationships, social status, and even economic status. If you dig a little deeper however, these illusions can be obscured, because everything and everyone has imperfections.Art is one of the great topics for this. Most every painting has one mess-up even if the artist throws away five canvas’s before the final product. Such as one of the pottery pieces I made a few years back, the top of the vase was bumpy in the inside and a little off. Which I was explaining to my grandma my mess-ups and she said “that’s art hun”.Which just made me think of it in a deeper sense; everything may be looked at, as a form of art. Our bodies are art in a matter of speaking, with appearance being a form of artistry. From the clothes & shoes we tend to purchase, or even specific type of hair moose/gel products to hide imperfections and create a work of Art.This quest for perfection can influence all aspects of our lives. The other day, I was looking up on the Internet the “best” toothbrush to buy before heading to the store. As I put more thought into it, I released maybe I didn’t need the best electronic toothbrush, when I have never been afraid of loosing my teeth due to using an ordinary toothbrush. In many ways, all of us seek perfection to some degree. We seek perfection by setting goals to obtain the perfect income, or family life. In reality however, the journey of life has many stops & starts, with different directions taken than our initial goals and intended paths. In the end however, the perfect life, is one where you are happy with the imperfections.
