It’s Trending Like a Beehive
Just recently I was at a Internet Marketing and Social Media Conference, in Orlando, Florida. There were people from all over the country and all over the world. The ages ranged from 17-83.
From BabyBoomerDaily.Com (I Googled it : )
Beehive (hair style) was a hot pop culture fad for high school baby boomers from the late 1950s to the mid 1960s. Hair was piled up and up and secured by gels. Some wearers tried to keep the “Do” intact for days or weeks on end. It’s resemblance to a beehive inspired the word. Also known as a “beehive nest,” connoting a long-lasting hair project that might hold any number of critters or things in the labyrinth.
The keynote speaker asked the audience…”Who in the crowd is over 55 years old?” Over 60% of the participants raised there hands. Light bulb moment!
Just last Christmas my brother bought my mom an iPod. My mom is 65 about to turn 66 in February. She soon figured out the only difference in the new iPod’s and the iPhone was the phone…She immediately returned it and got the iPhone.
I think at first she was scared of technology. She was not comfortable with the new concept. My brother and I showed her a few things. Within a day or two she was hooked. Apple makes things so user friendly, don’t they?
She is now retired, but she picks up temporary work at a financial firm a few times a week. I knew she could use some extra $$, so I asked her to take a few of my videos and write some summaries for my blogs… I started talking to her about blogging.
She got really excited because she has a ton of experience in certain areas and would love to share her voice. She not only has her own Kalatu blog, but she went out and bought a new Macbook… Ya MOM! She’s rocking out her own blog posts, and having a blast.
After going to all of our sports games, graduation, helping with college, always having a couch to sleep on after college…
isn’t it time to dig deep inside yourself…Who knows you might just impact someone’s life.
“But I don’t Know How To Blog”
I get it. When I started blogging, it was not as user friendly and easy as it is today. I had to learn some simple programming, or pay someone to help me anytime I got stuck… Not the case with Kalatu… A blogging for beginners dream come true.
Check out a few of my blog tutorials… If you can write an email, you can blog. If you have never been on Google or written an email, you might have some challenges, but even then, it’s really quite simple.
Besides…anytime we try something new, we go must go through a learning curve.
just like my mom and the iPod…
5 Steps To Awesome
Jon Acuff Author of “Start: Punch fear in the face, escape average, and do work that matters”
talks about the 5 Steps to Awesome in his book Start:
- Reap the Harvest
The learning stage can be uncomfortable. We are learning because we don’t know what we are doing. It’s natural to feel a little uneasy when trying something new. It’s temporary, and all it takes is getting past the EGO… Just START
Once we have taken a little bit of action, rolled up our sleeves and start… we can now learn from our mistakes and edit. Editing is seeing whats working and what’s not…making adjustments.
Ahhh and then comes mastery, when things are second nature and start becoming fun. Now it’s time to reap the rewards. Guidance… teaching and inspiring others.
I like to put it this way…
K+S+M/H+N = Massive Success

- The Proper Mentality
- With The Heart To Give Back +
- A Network = Massive Success
If you think about it, the first 4 fit right in with Jon Acuff’s formula… 5 Steps to Awesome. What is your network? Your network could be friends, bosses, co-workers, family, mentors, coaches…
With a blog and social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram and the like…your reach, your voice is literally worldwide…
Baby Boomer Business Ideas…Right?

You can literally reach the world… The internet is worldwide.

Just watch the movie Julie & Julia
Julia Child’s story of her start in the cooking profession is intertwined with blogger Julie Powell’s 2002 challenge to cook all the recipes in Child’s first book.
Let me say that again…They made a movie about a BLOGGER who wanted to learn how to cook. Don’t you think you have some experiences that people need to hear? I know you do…it’s just a matter of STARTING…
